Interview with Julie Hereish

We recently caught up with our SweetWater friend, cellist Julie Hereish!  We're looking forward to welcoming Julie back in May for our Spring concerts.

What have you been up to since we last welcomed you in September 2024?

My husband, Keith Hamm, and I have been spending most of our time with our 2 daughters in our home in Edmonton, where we play with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

When you are here with us in May, you'll be performing for school children in Owen Sound & Meaford.  What's the best question a kid has ever asked you during a school concert?

Are you guys married?

We keep you busy with lots of concerts and events when you are in the area and we know you need fuel!  What's your favourite spot to grab coffee in Owen Sound?

The Goods!

What's your favourite SweetWater performance memory with Edwin?

My favourite Edwin memory was during the 20th Anniversary Festival, Performing Bach’s Brandenburg 3! And then playing the 3rd movement again as an encore, as fast as possible!

Sweetwater has just been one big great memory altogether! The music making, the connection with the community, the kindness, devotion and support of the organization, the beauty of the land, all of it, really!

Both concerts in May will feature Schumann's Piano Quintet - a piece that hasn't yet been performed as a part of the SweetWater Festival.  What do you love about this piece?

This music depicts a complexity of emotions, a strength and a vulnerability that seem to carry a search for truth and understanding, which are at the core of the human condition. It is just so beautiful!
