SweetWater Puts Young Performers on Virtual Stage Again During Next Wave Showcase

The SweetWater Music Festival is putting the spotlight on young performers again as part of its fourth annual Next Wave Showcase from June 16 to 30. Once again this music event for emerging, aspiring musicians between the ages of 14 to 29 is taking place online.

This year’s performers were again selected by SweetWater Artistic Director Edwin Huizinga. Several of this year’s performers come from Grey and Bruce as well as some from other parts of Ontario. The 2022 line up includes a vocalist, violinist, clarinetist, and six pianists.

SweetWater is looking forward to highlighting the talents of these young musicians: Lauren Kohut (pianist); Bridget Walsh (violinist); Emily Weaver (clarinetist); Cydney Morris (vocalist); James Perrone (pianist); Emily Wang (pianist); Anna Zandvliet (pianist); Cindy Lu (pianist); Siobhan Letovaara (pianist).

A special Showcase Preview will officially launch the Showcase on June 16 offering a short preview of each performance along with introduction by Huizinga. Each performer will then have a special “Premiere Day” during the Showcase (available to view via SweetWater’s website and social media channels: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). SweetWater will have all the performances available online to view after the official Showcase is over as well.

A special thanks to the Ontario Arts Council, Canadian Heritage, and The Leflar Foundation for supporting this young performer showcase.
