SweetWater Premieres Video Highlighting Importance of Music
Impact of music on youth and music education key focus of video produced with support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation
April 1, 2016
As part of the Ontario Trillium Foundation support that SweetWater Music Festival received, the Festival recently completed the production of a four-part video highlighting the importance of music, particularly for young people. Transforming Lives Through Music will be launched in a series of segments via SweetWater's new You Tube channel throughout the month of April. The first segment, "How Music Makes a Difference", featuring Artistic Director Mark Fewer went live on Friday, April 1.
The video project is the final component of the Ontario Trillium Foundation funding provided to SweetWater beginning in 2013. The video was created after several months of shooting, interviews, along with compiling key moments from past SweetWater Music Festival outreach programs for youth in the community.
Along with Mark Fewer, pianist Kati Gleiser is featured in one segment talking about the importance of music education. In another, the Georgian Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra is highlighted as they perform Richard Mascall's Sistema Samba.
Additional segments will be uploaded to the SweetWater You Tube channel throughout April and links will be posted on SweetWater's Facebook page, its Twitter feed, and on the "In Performance" window found on the SweetWater web site home page. The full video will be posted on the You Tube channel at the end of April.
