SweetWater Jazz 2 Launches 15th Year as Packed House Enjoys a Swingin' Evening
May 3, 2018
The SweetWater Music Festival launched its 15th year with another evening of jazz at Heartwood Hall in Owen Sound during SweetWater Jazz II on April 28. The standing room only crowd enjoyed an amazing performance by Artistic Director Mark Fewer, Drew Jurecka, Nathan Hiltz, and making his SweetWater debut, Justin Gray.
Much like last year's first edition, the audience was enthralled by the energetic and fun evening of jazz standards and other surprises. Mark made his debut as a solo whistler on one tune. Later in the evening, Mark and Drew put down their violins and performed on saxophones. As promised, the evening had many surprises for the audience.
This concert marks the first of two SweetWater events that will take place at Heartwood in 2018 with a jazz focus. During SweetWater 2018 in September, several SweetWater performers will return to the Heartwood stage for After Hours Again. This Saturday Late Night Jazz concert will feature Dean McNeil, James Campbell, Graham Campbell, Joseph Phillips and friends performing a mixture of classic jazz and Brazilian jazz. Watch for more details later in May when tickets and passes go on sale for SweetWater 2018.
A special thanks to long time SweetWater friend Michael McLuhan for capturing some great images from SweetWater Jazz II. Below see a few more moments from this great evening.
