Gwendolyn Buttemer is an avid chamber musician.  She recently received her Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory, where she was a student of Mark McEwen. She is the former principal oboist of the Boston Civic Symphony and also played with the Boston New Music Initiative, Atlantic Wind Symphony, Dorchester Symphony, and PALS Children’s Chorus. In Canada, she has performed with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and was formerly the 2nd Oboe of the Stratford Symphony Orchestra and has recently been appointed Principal Oboist for their next season.  

Gwen received her Bachelor of Music degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.  At Laurier, she won the 2010 Concerto competition, as well as the 2011 Ken Murray Concerto Competition and Award of Distinction. She began studying the oboe with Russell Bajer of the Victoria Symphony Orchestra.
