Mark Fewer is a member of the internationally-renowned
St. Lawrence String Quartet. Since 2015, he has been William Dawson Scholar at the Schulich School of Music, McGill University. He was previously the Artist-in-Residence at
Stanford University
Known for his exceptional versatility as violinist, Fewer is a highly-regarded soloist and chamber musician, whose performances of both classical and jazz have been described as “genre-bending”
(National Post), “intrepid” (Globe and Mail) and “profound” (The WholeNote). He has appeared widely in North America and abroad throughout Europe, Australia, and the Far East. In 2013
he performed concerti of Bach, Vivaldi, Berg, Prokofiev, and John Adams around the world, conducted Vivaldi’s Gloria with the McGill Baroque Orchestra and Cappella Antica, recorded Mozart Piano
Quartets at the Smithsonian Institute using Thomas Jefferson’s violin, directed SweetWater Music Festival’s 10th anniversary, performed tributes to Stephane Grapelli, and hosted CBC Radio’s This
is My Music. In 2014 he performed new works written for him by Brad Turner, Phil Dwyer, Matthias Maute and Bramwell Tovey. In 2015, Fewer conducted I Musici de Montreal, tour
with pianist John Novacek, and record a new album of works written for him by composer Daniel Janke. Mr. Fewer is a Juno and Prix Opus winner and is the subject of an episode of People
Uncut on the Biography Channel.
